Low Vision Games Collection and KickStarter
At Fingertainment we strive to create games for users with special needs, and this takes a lot of resources and talents to achieve. Making games for users with special needs is a major undertaking. Simply coming up with a proper interface from the ground up is uneasy let alone making the games fun to play! It is not about making highly appealing visual effects. It is about making the whole gaming experience suitable for some very specific group of audiences.
The Low Vision Games Collection is an assortment of games (shooter, platformer, racer…etc) that gives user with weaker vision the power to control player characters and experience actions that are fun and comfortable for the eyes. This project is privately funded up until now. The project targets a very niche market (a market segment which is never of a “make big money” nature). We really need funding to proceed further, as it takes a lot of resources to adjust and tune the various game settings so to make them truly enjoyable by those with weak visions. This is why we go to Kickstarter. Game design is the bulk of our expense as we move to complete the project. There are also fees to settle, including Kickstarter fees and some software/game assets license fees.
For funding purpose we plan to launch each low vision game under a separate kickstarter project one by one. For each project, both a PC version which runs on Windows and an Android version which runs on phones or other devices are planned. As far as reward, we plan to keep it simple and straightforward. About 60% of funds raised will go towards fees, taxes and other normal expenses for running the project. The rest will be split between paychecks and rewards. The final product will be made available for free to backers. Also, backers are encouraged to involve in our development process by playing with betas and giving us feedbacks.
More information will be available shortly.
